The Ephorate of Antiquities of Ilia (Ef. A. Ilias) is the competent body for the management of the Archaeological site and the Museum of Olympia.

The Ephorate is a peripheral unit of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports.

It exercises its responsibilities, according to the Archaeological Law and Regulations in the region of Ilia (Western Greece) in collaboration with the respective Directorates and authorities of the ministry. The Ephorate is operating and managing all the archaeological sites and the museums in its juristiction and supervises all matters related to antiquities.

Among the Ephorate’s duties is the systematic and rescue excavations, archaeological research, study, the cosnervation of antiquities and the coordination – implementation of every neccessary work and action for the sageguarding, study and promotion of the cultural heritage.

The scientific staff and all employees are also resposnsible for organizing or participating in periodic exhibitions, educational programmes, scientifac lectures, seminars and conferences with topics related to antiquities and archaeology.

According to the Organizational Chart, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Ilia is consisted by the following Departments:
