Washing areas and stone benches used for<br \/>lectures and theoretical instruction connected physical training with intellectual<br \/>development\u2014a hallmark of Greek athletic culture.<\/p><\/details><details><summary><strong>Entrances &amp; Circulation<\/strong><\/summary><p>The original structure had two south-side entrances. A later Doric propylon with four<br \/>columns was added on the north side, becoming the main entrance. A smaller additional<br \/>doorway connected the Palaestra directly to the adjacent gymnasium complex.<\/p><\/details><details><summary><strong>Social &amp; Cultural Importance<\/strong><\/summary><p>Beyond its athletic function, the Palaestra served as a vibrant social centre.
