The Ephorate is a regional service of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.
It exercises its mandate within the region of Ilia (Western Greece) in accordance with Archaeological Law and Regulations, collaborating with the Ministry’s respective directorates and authorities.
The Ephorate operates and manages all archaeological sites and museums within its jurisdiction, supervising all matters pertaining to antiquities.
Its responsibilities include systematic and rescue excavations, archaeological research, study, and the conservation of antiquities. Furthermore, it coordinates and implements all necessary actions for the protection, study, and promotion of cultural heritage.
The scientific and administrative staff are also tasked with organizing or participating in temporary exhibitions, educational programs, lectures, seminars, and conferences focused on archaeology and cultural history.
